In the last days of August, Tinh Van Education Joint Stock Company (TVE) completed a new solution called Bookworm, considered a "library in the palm of your hand".
Bookworm is a solution for electronic document circulation for libraries. It connects readers, libraries, and publishers in a chain of services for buying, selling, borrowing, and returning digital documents of the library. With the philosophy of "a library circulating e-books like paper books," Bookworm brings convenience to readers as they can borrow e-books from the library anytime, anywhere and read them on their personal devices, while helping libraries and publishers fully control and protect the digital copyright of e-books. Bookworm integrates a Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection and management mechanism to prevent unauthorized duplication of e-book file content. Digital documents are encrypted at the time of download based on the user's device parameters, and can only be decrypted and read on that specific device.
Bookworm connects with Tinh Van's existing products, Libol and Classbook, to form a unified and consistent technology platform across operations. This solution will help the Vietnamese library sector catch up with the digital development trends of modern libraries worldwide.
Notable features include:
- Integration with the organization's digital library software
- Simultaneous exploitation of the library's internal digital resources and other external digital resources.
- Support for both borrowing and purchasing of documents
- Ready for mobile devices
- Support for standard ebook formats (PDF, ePub)
- Custom-built multimedia content embedding and interaction mechanism.
- Content editing tools
- DRM encryption security technology
- Online payment integration
- Data integration with library software via Dublin Core standard
