7th National Congress of VAIP

On the morning of December 4, 2011, at the Sofitel Plaza Hotel in Hanoi, the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Information Technology Association (VAIP) took place.

Attending the congress were representatives of the Party and State leadership, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the National Steering Committee on IT, along with over 200 delegates from VAIP's member chapters. The 7th National Congress demonstrated the spirit of unity, cooperation, and dedication of VAIP members and member IT associations, striving in research, teaching, production, business, and IT services to contribute to making Vietnam a strong IT nation.

The congress elected 29 members of the Executive Committee for the 7th term (2011-2016). Mr. Bui Manh Hai, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and Chairman of the IT Policy Advisory Council, was elected as Chairman of VAIP for the 7th term. The position of Secretary General of VAIP remains open. The congress authorized the new Executive Committee to continue addressing personnel issues.

VAIP is a professional social organization with the function of advising and critiquing mechanisms and policies on IT. The participation of IT business leaders in the VAIP Executive Committee will enhance the accuracy and timeliness of the critiques VAIP contributes to IT management, thereby increasing the effectiveness of IT development and application in Vietnam in the coming time.

Also at this congress, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals who have actively contributed to Vietnam's IT cause. Tinh Van and Deputy General Director Phan Quang Minh were honored to receive VUSTA certificates of merit.
