Tinh Van Book Festival 2015 – Feeling Books!

Following the success of the 2014 Book Festival, on the evening of Wednesday, September 9, 2015, Tinhvan Group organized the Tinh Van Book Festival 2015 with the desire to spread the passion of Tinhvaners for books, as well as to create a festival for book lovers to exchange and share their books.
The atmosphere of the book festival filled Tinh Van from early morning, with standees at the elevator, posters on the bulletin board, flyers in everyone's hands, and bookshelves in the hallway. Tinhvaners were excited to know that, in addition to the book exchange activity like the previous event, they could also interact with the guest speaker, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh – Head of the Reading with Children Club, author of many articles on My Tinhvan, and have the opportunity to share and introduce their favorite books.

At exactly 5:30 PM, members gathered in full at Meeting Room 1 of Tinhvan Group, eagerly awaiting the sharing session by Ms. Thuy Anh. In a close and simple manner, Ms. Thuy Anh brought Tinh Van people very useful knowledge about reading skills through life stories and simple interactive games. According to her, "readers must not be lazy." During the reading process, we can agree or disagree with the author's viewpoints, but we must definitely think. A book may be good for one person but bad for another, simply due to experience. She simply recounted: "I have a friend. The first time she read the book 'Museum of Innocence,' she was very bored and said it was not a good book. But about 5-6 years later, when she read the same story again, she cried uncontrollably from beginning to end because the details in the story closely resembled a love affair she had just gone through. From then on, 'Museum of Innocence' became her favorite book..."

Ms. Thuy Anh also advised Tinhvaners to find worthy books to read: "When reading a book, if it doesn't move you within the first 10 pages, you should stop." At the same time, trust the test of time: if a book is still widely read after 100 years, trust that it is a good book.

The next part of the program was equally exciting: the "Book Introduction" contest among Tinhvaners, with Ms. Thuy Anh as the judge. Three presentations with three different styles: Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang (from Minh Chau Entertainment Company) with 'The 80/20 Principle' (Richard Koch), Nguyen Thi Hai Yen (intern at Tinh Van Incubator) with 'Please Look After Mom' (Shin Kyung Sook), and a "big fan" of writer Nguyen Nhat Anh – Mr. Truong Anh Dung (intern at Tinh Van Incubator) with the story 'Blue Eyes.' While Mr. Hoang and Mr. Dung piqued listeners' curiosity with their first words about their books, Ms. Yen was a bit slower, leading Tinhvaners into the touching world of maternal love. It was very difficult for Ms. Thuy Anh to judge who was the best because "everyone had their own unique traits, it's hard to say who is the best." Therefore, she awarded prizes to all three, each receiving a book authored by herself, titled '100 Grams of Happiness.'

By this time, everyone was tired, but after entering the Book Exchange session, seeing stacks of books of all genres, the festival atmosphere immediately heated up. Tinhvaners eagerly picked out books they liked, happily chatting about their book tastes. At the end of the book exchange activity, everyone had "spoils" to take home, some carrying up to 4-5 books, and more meaningfully, all Tinhvaners wore happy, satisfied smiles.

The Tinh Van Book Festival 2015, as expected, achieved certain successes, especially in spreading the love of books and "feeling books." Hopefully, the Book Festival will become an annual activity and a beautiful feature of Tinh Van culture.
