Held for the first time, the Tinh Van Book Festival took place on the afternoon of March 11, 2014, attracting a large number of Tinh Van employees. Over 400 books were sold and exchanged at the event. The activity was organized by the BO Communications Department in collaboration with the Tinh Van Incubator (TVi).
TVers enthusiastically selecting their favorite books
It is known that right after the launch, the Organizing Committee received enthusiastic support from the Board of Directors and many TVers. Among them, Mr. Hoang To – Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Tinhvan Group, and Mr. Nguyen Quan Son – Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO of Tinhvan Group, were the first two leaders to donate books and also the ones who contributed the most books to the program. The total number of books donated to the festival after one week of launch reached 496. These were books selected by TVers, so they were quite diverse in genre and quality. Many "hot" books can be mentioned, such as: The Fountainhead, Good to Great, The Lexus and the Olive Tree, Men Are from Mars – Women Are from Venus, Black Tide, etc.
Nguyen Ly, a member of the Organizing Committee, shared: "Everyone was very excited about the Book Festival. Many colleagues even came before the opening time to register for books. Some 'hot' books were so popular that several people wanted to buy them, forcing the committee to prioritize early arrivals. Coming to the book festival, all TVers found one or two books they liked. Some even went around the 'market' twice, happily holding a tall stack of books in their hands."
The Book Festival brought Tinh Van people closer together
Mai Thuy (Tinhvan Telecom) said: "I feel very happy and satisfied with the program. I think this is a very useful and meaningful program. Thanks to the Book Festival, I feel my passion for books has returned. I hope there will be more activities like this organized in the future."
The 'so hot' atmosphere of the Book Festival even spread to the Ho Chi Minh City office, when the Organizing Committee received a call from Tram NTNB requesting: "Hey, please save the Steve Jobs book for me."
Smiling happily while holding precious books in his hands, Mr. Nguyen Quyet Thang said with satisfaction: "What a great idea. Tinh Van people need cultural activities like this. I hope Tinh Van will soon have a shared bookshelf."
Some new books introduced at the Tinh Van Book Festival
This year's Book Festival Organizing Committee also set up a special new book booth featuring popular literary works from the Vietnamese literary scene at discounted prices for TVers.
The TV Cent currency exchange initiative by TVi was particularly enjoyed by TVers. TVers who contributed books to the shared library received TV Cent equivalent to the book's value and could use these TV Cent or cash to purchase other books from the shared library. The total revenue from book sales is expected to be used for charitable purposes.
